UNION STATION AT KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI. BECAUSE OF THE DEMISE IN PASSENGER TRAINS OVER THE LAST 20 YEARS ONLY A PORTION OF THE TERMINAL SERVES TRAVELERS. THE REMAINDER IS USED AS A CONVENTION HALL. IN ITS HEYDAY THE STATION SERVED MORE THAN 200 TRAINS DAILY COMPARED TO SIX PER DAY IN 1974. AMTRAK IS WORKING TO UPGRADE PASSENGER SERVICE AND ATTRACT MORE RIDERS

Charles O'Rear (born 26 November 1941, Miss) is an American photographer. His image Bliss was used as the default desktop wallpaper of Microsoft's Windows XP operating system. O'Rear started his career with the daily newspapers Emporia Gazette, The Kansas City Star, and Los Angeles Times; worked for National Geographic magazine; and was part of the Environmental Protection Agency's DOCUMERICA project.
